What is LED light therapy?

What actually is LED light therapy and why should we use it?

So LED stands for, light-emitting diode and the different coloured light therapy treats various skin conditions. It all started in 1993 when NASA were using LED for plant growth and in doing so they discovered that the red LED was curing cuts and lesions on the skin. Although NASA didn't discover LED light therapy, they did play a significant role in the research and development that followed.

Why do we need red light therapy?

As we age, our bodies naturally make less collagen. This process starts to slow-down around the age of 25. The natural aging process occurs and that is when we may notice fine lines and wrinkles as our skin loses its elasticity. Enter red light therapy! When low-level red and infrared light is used it stimulates collagen production which in turn aids, healthier, plumper skin. If you are looking for a skin treatment to help with loss of volume, uneven skin tone and fine lines then an LED silicone facemask is what you need in your daily routine. Consistent use of red light therapy (10-20 minutes daily) will result in younger looking, glowing skin.

Are there more benefits to LED light therapy?

Our best selling 4 light LED silicone mask has different colours for different concerns. The most common colour is red but that doesn't mean the other colour options aren't equally as beneficial.

Here's a break down;

Red light therapy - As discussed above, this is the prime colour to boost collagen production, for younger looking skin

Blue light therapy - If you suffer with acne blue light therapy could be the answer for you. The blue light kills the bacteria that causes acne. Blue light also helps to get rid of free radicals (unstable atoms that can damage cells)

Yellow light therapyAnti-inflammatory properties: The calming effect of cyan light can help soothe redness and irritation, making it ideal for those with sensitive skin or conditions like rosacea.

Cyan light therapy - Improves skin tone: By targeting melanin production, yellow light therapy can help even out skin tone and reduce the appearance of dark spots.
